Parable's CPRS/VistA integration ("CVIX") enables automatic transfer of Parable assessments to the EHR. Assessment data is transferred in the form of a e-filed note on the patient's record containing the assessment details; imaging and a PDF report of the assessment are also attached to the e-filed note.
Note: Assessment data from Parable is transferred as new e-filed note which cannot be attached to an existing note or consult.
- Only "EHR-Linked" patients that have been added to Parable through the EHR lookup will have automatic transfers enabled
- Transferred notes can have up to one
TitleandLocationper Setting- Note title determined by facility
- Note location determined by facility (typically an existing location at facility)
- Author of the note will always be
Cvix, Parableuser
-
Transfers take place every hour: assessments that are queued for transfer remain in a Pending status until pushed to the EHR
- Existing/previously performed assessments can be transferred to EHR using the Re-Transfer functionality
- Transferred notes can be found in the 'Notes' section of the patient's CPRS chart
- Imaging can be viewed in VistA Imaging Display (and JLV)
Follow the guidance below for an overview of the data transfer functionality.
Create EHR Patients in Parable
If CPRS/VistA Integration is enabled in your Parable region, you can import EHR patients directly into your Patient List on the Parable mobile app.
You can add EHR patients to Parable on the mobile app by searching manually, or by scanning a barcode (wristband/patient label). Access search and barcode options by tapping the "Add New Patient" button above the Patient List or directly tapping the search bar or barcode icon at the top-right.
Once the patient has been found and added to Parable, you'll see a "<>Manage EHR" button available under the patient's name on the Patient Profile page, as well as two new fields: ICN and Site Number:
Link/Re-Link Existing Patients to EHR
On the Parable web portal, you can link Parable patients that were created manually (without EHR import) by clicking the "<> Link to EHR" button under a patient's name. An EHR lookup modal will appear, allowing you to find and reconcile a CPRS/VistA patient with the existing Parable profile.
Transfer Parable Assessments & Data to EHR
Any assessments in Parable performed on an EHR-Linked patient will be queued for automatic transfer to the patient's EHR chart. Find or create an EHR-Linked patient in the Parable Mobile App, then start and submit an assessment on any wound site.
Transfer Status
On the Parable Web Portal, you can review the transfer status of assessments by navigating to a Patient Profile page and clicking the "<>Manage EHR Integration" button under the patient's name:
A modal containing details of the data transfer will pop up:
Previous assessments or edited assessments can be queued for transfer via Re-Transfer.
Review in CPRS / VistA Imaging Display / JLV
The e-filed note from Parable will be available under the Notes section of the patient record, authored by the ‘Parableuser,Cvix’ interface agent. The transferred note will contain all available assessment details from the encounter, including timestamps, measurements, assessment responses, and comments.
Re-Transfer Assessments
You can re-transfer assessment data if you have made changes (edits or measurement overrides) that you wish to publish to the EHR. You can also transfer existing, older assessment data to the EHR using this same process.
Navigate to the Assessment Details page for an individual encounter and press the "Manage" button in the top right, then click "Re-Transfer to EHR":
For older assessments prior to the integration, you will also click the "Re-Transfer to EHR" button to transfer the assessment data.
A separate, new note will be created for Re-Transfers. Any prior notes in the EHR for this assessment will not be updated. The note creation date in the EHR will be based on when the transfer was requested, with the note body including the assessment details.
Note: the 'Re-Transfer' will be in pending status until the next hourly transfer.
