If CPRS/VistA integration is enabled in your Parable Region, you can import EHR patients directly into your Patient List via the Parable mobile app.
CPRS/VistA patients can be looked up by searching manually, or by scanning a barcode (wristband/patient label).
Access search and barcode options by tapping the Add New Patient button above the Patient List, or by tapping the search bar or barcode icon at the top-right.
Note: Parable's CPRS/VistA interface must already be enabled + configured for your Parable Region for mobile EHR lookup. Please reach out to support@parablehealth.com for more information.
Search Bar
If CPRS/VistA Integration is enabled in your Parable region, any search input will automatically lookup EHR patients (in addition to your existing Patient List). Note that EHR searching may take a few moments to retrieve results. CPRS/VistA Patient results are indicated by a purple highlight and can be added to Parable.
The following text searches are supported:
- Last initial + last 4 SSN
- without spaces i.e.
z1234
- without spaces i.e.
- Full SSN
- without spaces/dashes
- Partial name search
- Last name or first name
-
Last,Firstformat with no spaces also supported
Note: SSN is securely displayed only for confirmation and is not stored or cached. Once the patient is added to Parable, a CPRS/VistA-specific 'ICN' identifier will be noted on the patient profile instead.
Barcode Scan
With the device camera active, point squarely at a patient wristband to lookup the patient in CPRS/VistA.
If a matching patient is found, a confirmation window displaying additional information will appear--review carefully, then tap "Add Patient" and fill out any Parable specific details. Finish the patient-creation process by adding a wound site to the newly imported patient.
EHR-Linked Patients
On the Patient List and Patient Profile, an EHR Link "<>" icon indicates which patients are currently linked to CPRS/VistA. If transfers are enabled, new assessments in Parable will be queued for e-filing.
On the Parable web portal, you can link Parable patients that were created manually (without EHR import) by clicking the "Link to EHR" button under a patient's name. An EHR lookup modal will appear, allowing you to find and reconcile a CPRS/VistA patient with the existing Parable profile.
