Automatic Trace [Beta]
The default option, Automatic Trace, will generate a wound boundary immediately after a scan without any user input. You can adjust the generated trace via touch controls by nudging the highlighted boundary.
Note: not available to all users at this time.
Smart Trace
Smart Trace is a process that uses 'samples' of wound and non-wound tissue in an image to automatically identify and capture the boundaries and measurements of a wound/lesion site.
When performing an assessment in Parable, users will be prompted to Smart Trace after they complete the scanning and image capture steps of a Smart Scan (3D) or Smart Photo (2D).

During a Smart Trace, users must first highlight a sample of each different tissue type within the wound/lesion site by drawing a line through each tissue type in one continuous swipe, being careful to avoid parts of the image that are not wound/lesion tissue, such as dressings or bedsheets.
Next, the user highlights a sample of the background by drawing another line outside of the wound/lesion site.
After you highlighting both a wound sample and a non-wound sample, Parable will intelligently highlight the wound/lesion site and identify its boundaries.
After the wound boundaries are automatically identified, users can adjust the result by 'nudging' the highlighted border with their finger to better capture the wound/lesion site boundaries.
To expand the trace, start with your finger inside the boundary you would like to expand and push it outwards. To remove part of the trace, start with your finger outside the trace and use your finger like an eraser to nudge the boundary inwards.
Manual Trace
Manual Trace allows users to directly trace wound site boundaries with their finger or stylus. Manual Trace may be less precise, but it works consistently in all situations. Manual Trace may make sense for less clearly defined wounds, in situations with poor lighting, or whenever Smart Trace is not working well.
Switch to Manual Trace by tapping the toggle in the top-left corner (during a Smart Scan) or bottom of the screen (during a Smart Photo), and then manually outline the wound boundary using your finger or a stylus by tracing along the edge of the wound.
As with a Smart Trace, the resulting wound border from a manual trace will also be indicated by a green outline. After completing a Smart Trace of Manual Trace, you will be prompted to align and measure the wound/lesion site.
